My name is James Takeo, and I’m a tattoo and fine artist. I also take some rather interesting photos of places I go and things I see, and am also a writer (though unpublished) of poetry, blogs and articles. I live in Welland, Ontario, Canada, a place that has been my home for many years, though not by birth. I currently live here, and though I have mixed feelings about it at times, I feel I live in an inspiring and beautiful place.
I’ve been a tattoo artist for a number of years, and have worked and done “guest spots” at many studios not only in the Niagara region, but also Alberta and parts of British Columbia. After working for these years at many different shops and studios, I want to expand my boundaries creatively a bit. I want to be able to get more involved in my other blossoming creative projects, such as writing (which I’ve done for years, but am actually starting to take seriously now), and I’m really enjoying what I’m shooting pictures of. I also want to do more drawing and illustration.
I’m on the verge of taking a leap of faith: after recently leaving the studio I had worked at for the past couple years, I’ve decided to spread my wings a bit, and to do so, I have also decided to open my own private art studio. This allows me more time, space and freedom to pursue other creative projects and interests, as well as travel. I’m hoping to create this space of mine, and at times, I may even share that space with other creative people.
This blog is about the story of this new adventure of broadening my artistic horizons and freedoms. It will also include poetry, artwork, photos, and other cool creative stuff. I hope you enjoy this journey with me.
