Poem: Art Does Not Belong Outdoors

Art does not belong outdoors
These walls are ours, they are not yours
We keep them blank and plain and gray
And let the colours fade away
Just a few punks with ugly tags
Make the rest of us look bad
Police and politics now grandstand
Last year they did not understand
Heavy handed police state
Best way to eradicate
A few rotten apples spoiled it all
Now there’s no colours for any walls
Art does not belong outside
In your houses it must hide
We discarded the idea long ago
That art outside can be shown
Walked away and left uncared
The only colours are where few dare
See the city in different way
Before the colours fade away
