Poem: In a Silent Park I Sit

In a silent park, I sit
Far from all, away from it
On old bench, in dimly-lit
Shadowed oasis, as day has quit
Bridge that looms, gray and bright
Stabbing upward, into night
Shadows and corners, cast by light
Centerpiece of metal and light
Across the water, white and red
Amber glows from shimmering bed
Trapped ‘tween walls that are now dead
With words that echo when they’re said
In this place do I now find
Nightly solace and peace of mind
As each day slowly unwinds
And I leave the world behind
