Poem: I Remember When This Street Was Full of Bars

I remember when
This street was full of bars
Side streets were jammed
With revellers parked cars
No weeds would grow
Through asphalt cracks
Long reeling walks
Down railroad tracks
Lovers and fighters
All crammed the spots
Of now-vacant buildings
Empty parking lots
Bottles would break
Music would boom
Far from madding crowd
Cram into bathrooms
So many laughs
So many fights
So many tears
On Saturday nights
The good times are over
Last call long ago
The bar has been empty
For as long as most know
