What Does BLX Have in Store For You?

The Black Lantern Experience (BLX) is a group of independent artists working in the Welland area. This latest endeavor is a pop-up retail space to promote and market the local arts industry. The official Grand Opening date will be November the 28th, and will remain open throughout December.

Ever since the closing of our last venture into creating retail/gallery space at TheHardWay, in which we received much support from the community, BLX has been approached by a number of people and groups hoping that we would again open up a similar place that would promote local artistic talent. This pop-up retail space has been generously offered by the Seaway Mall and is being shared with the WRCC, and as participants in the Art Canoe Project which will be on display, we are both promoting some of the arts and culture that are here in our community, as well as marketing the local arts industry during the holiday shopping season in a high-traffic retail setting.

The purpose of these popups, while small and temporary, can build up interest by consumer exposure. Pop-up retail allows individuals or businesses to create a unique environment that engages their customers and generates a feeling of relevance and interactivity. The BLX Store will give the community a place to purchase artwork, merchandise, and gifts created by BLX artists, as well as a few other select local artists, in a retail setting. This pop-up shop will also give an opportunity to meet and interact with local artists and possibly even see them in action!
