Poem: Surrender

I am stripped bare of my armor
No longer do I wield
This sword of bravado
This shield of apparent apathy
Before you, I stand unguarded
No longer does the breastplate
Protect my heart

I am without weapon
Without defense
My weary form
Reluctantly gives up resistance
I can no longer bear
The slings and arrows
Pointed straight through my chest
Piercing me deep
Leaving scar that runs deep
And burns like fire inside

You claim this victory
I have given to you
You show me mercy
As you stand victorious
Glorious
Above me
I relinquish my all
Only to you
Without fear

I am vanquished
Conquered
And yours
