Poem: There is No Art Scene Here…Yet

I looked and loved
Silently in awe
Pictures of Paris streets
Detroit factory walls
Toronto alleyways
In my rust-belt wonderland
The World is not so gray today

This is no art scene here
No avant-garde Bohemian paradise
No Greenwich village corner
No beat poet landscape
No inner-city gallery

This is the empty
The windows we walk by
The streets that we know
And always are
Soon, they will become galleries
Spaces full of colour
All ours for the taking
We just have to want it

I do
