Poem: Silvery Day

The world had gone
Silver and white
The rain the fell
Froze overnight
The world is covered
In an icy glaze
Frozen in time
Before holidays
Branches come down
From ancient trees
That grow heavy in weight
Blown down with a breeze
Twigs and pines
Frozen and covered
Beneath soggy ground
Secrets uncovered
All look like glass
All gone to white
All become wet
In the sleet of the night
Some without power
Some without heat
I trudge along
In soaking feet
Find there is solace
In this space that I’m in
Though it’s icy outside
It’s still warm within
