Poem: The World is Coming

The world is coming
We couldn’t ask for more
We’ve gotten ready
That’s what this was for
Have we cleaned the streets?
Do we look our best?
Is the presentation ready?
Have we cleaned up the mess?
Breathlessly wait
For the world to come
Now looking forward
Not forgetting where we’re from
Brand new clear vision
Just after tomorrow
A newfound hope
To ignore our sorrow
The plans of the minds
And now in our hands
Welcome with open arms
All those from far lands
They are coming here
To see what we’ve got
We’ve made them a place
In this vision that’s sought
This could make a difference
Give us new hope
Or some epic failure
That may cause us to mope
Is this our time
In this very place
Where those on the water
Shall come to race
The world is coming
And soon we shall see
If this great effort
Is all it can be
