Poem: Pretty Girls Don’t Notice

Pretty girls don’t notice

The beauty that is around

Spend too much primping

Then pouting with a frown

Glitter and some fashion

Colour and new clothes

They make no mind to notice

Anyone else’s woes

The day is made for sunshine

Yet they roam along the halls

In the filtered sunlight

Of the shopping malls

Heads are in the clouds

Noses in their phones

Competing who has spent the most

Comparing what they own

Staring into mirrors

Make-up and hair just right

Missing out on the beauty

That is in each day and night

Center of attention

No mind to what is not them

Thinking they’re important

Feeling like they have friends

But when the beauty is over

And the years have sealed their fate

Pretty girls won’t notice

Until it is far too late
