Poem: Rabbit in the Old Graveyard

Rabbit in the old graveyard

Leaps between the stones

Jumps into the distance

And trods the grounds alone

White tail barely visible

As it goes off into the night

Hidden in the shadow

Racing from the light

Behind black iron gates

Does this rabbit roam

Disappear into the darkness

Toward his unseen home

Snow now barely visible

Last of winter’s cold

Young little rabbit jumping

Between these stones so old

Where is it that you come from

Where is it you go?

Do you sense Spring coming

In last remains of snow?

Furry little creature

Leaping into night

Lost among the gravestones

Gone now from my sight
